Written by Vim Nadera, Artworks by Elmer Borlongan
Vim Nadera’s poems about Rizal, one for every letter in the alphabet, are interpreted by Elmer Borlongan in the tradition of letras y figuras, a Filipino art form where the contours of plants, animals, and human figures shape each letter. Borlongan uses the iPad to sketch and paint each letter and poem. What results is an interesting interplay between tradition and technology, literature and visual art. Rizalpabeto was published in celebration of Rizal’s 150th birth anniversary.
This special book highlights Jose Rizal’s importance and relevance in Philippine history. Perfect for high school students, Rizalpabeto could be a tool for historical and cultural discovery to Filipino students.
